【 Blended Latex Foam / Synthetic Latex Foam 】

Except adding curing agents, blended latex foam manufacturers also add fillers like synthetic latex, polyurethane, and chemicals to cut down the cost. Some synthetic latex manufacturers even produced from petrochemicals like SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) to mimic the properties of natural latex foams. Since the SBR and fillers of urethane and chemicals are added, the blended/synthetic latex foams are much less durable and more carcinogenic.

 

【 Pure Latex / 100% Latex 】

Even pure latex or 100% latex does not really mean they are 100% natural. As explained earlier, curing agents are needed to make the liquid latex to solid. Always ask your factory or the retailer about the certifications of their latex content as we do have reports and certifications to clarify the percentage of natural latex on our products.

 

【 Organic Latex 】

Some clients requested for organic latex foam before when we have had no idea at what it is even till now. For the food industry, “organic” refers to pesticide-free. However, it’s meaningless to use the terminology of “organic” in the furniture and bedding industries. Not even one manufacturer would use “pesticide” in their latex production line.

Polyurethane foam is made entirely synthetically by petrochemicals, known as PU foam / Polyfoam to be used mostly on sofas or cushions or even helmets, and is the lowest quality and most inexpensive foam used in mattresses and bed toppers. Prolonged exposure to petroleum-based chemicals in products like polyurethane foam may affect the nervous and immune system and may cause illnesses including cancer, asthma and allergies, miscarriage and child behavior disorders, etc. The physical characteristic of Polyurethane foam is that it degrades or disintegrates easily no matter what density it is.

Memory foam is essentially generic polyurethane foam, adding more compounds which change the way it feels, to a “slow moving” property that memory foam is known for. With the same type of petroleum-based chemical of its based material, the health concerns would be the most that it is no good at all to the human body nor the babies. The most complained characteristics are "heat retained" which leads to uncomfortable sleep feeling and "sinking" that makes it difficult to move on the memory foam mattresses.
